A Successful Night for Orphans Africa
by Janet Francis, Board Member and Benefit Chair
March 18th marked the 8th annual Orphans Africa Benefit Dinner and Auction celebrating our tenth anniversary of educating orphans in Africa. A live band, Soyaya, and reigning princesses from the Miss Africa Washington Pageant welcomed over 190 guests. The evening was hosted by “Entertainment and Lifestyle Correspondent” Scott Carty, who has hosted segments on both KOMO TV, and Seattle Refined. Once again our auctioneer, Howard Choder, with Scott made this a lively event including the dessert dash and live auction rounds. With a wonderful presentation by Board Member Dave Skoor of our ten years of OA success in Tanzania, the auction grossed over $85,000. These funds will be used towards a variety of OA projects, including the Mwaji Boys’ Dormitory, the Vocational-Technical School programs, and additional solar power and battery storage.
We are so grateful to the auction committee and the volunteers for a successful evening, and YOU…the OA supporters and donors who gave so generously. You made a BIG impact in the lives of Tanzanian orphans….you are a world changer! THANK YOU!
